At LCF, we take prioritize & value sanctification. If you are unfamiliar with the term ‘sanctification,’ we want to give you some information letting you understand this better.

The word “sanctify” means to “set apart, make holy.” Sanctification has three aspects: positional sanctification, progressive sanctification, and ultimate sanctification.

Positional sanctification occurs the moment a man or woman believes in Jesus Christ as their personal savior. At that moment, God declares them righteous and sees only the holiness of Christ within that person.

Ultimate sanctification occurs at death when the believer is permanently united with Christ, perfected in God’s sight, and is permanently free from the bondage of sin.

Progressive sanctification is what occurs in between the times of positional sanctification and ultimate sanctification. Simply put, progressive sanctification is the Christian’s process of becoming more and more like Jesus throughout the rest of their lives. Galatians 5:22-25 shows that through the power of the Holy Spirit the Christian will begin to produce love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control and will follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of their lives.

At LCF, we want to help you along this path of “Going Deeper” with your walk with Christ. We have several steps you can take to help you grow in the fruit of the Spirit and continually follow Christ in all areas of your life for the rest of your life.

The first step a man or woman needs to take to begin following Christ is Salvation. You may feel that you need to get your life together before accepting Christ as your savior - NOTHING COULD BE FURTHER FROM THE TRUTH! We have all sinned, and each one of us has baggage. The good news is that Jesus already knew that before He died on the cross for our sins. He knew what He was getting into, and He came to Earth anyway, because He loves you that much! All you need to do is declare with your mouth and believe in your heart that Jesus is Lord, and you will experience His saving grace (Romans 10:9-10).

One crucial aspect of continually walking closer to Christ is to read His Word. God has revealed to us who He is in His Word. Reading the Bible will help you grow closer to the Lord each day, because every time you read it, you are hearing what God has already said and is still saying today. The Bible is the story of God, and you will see how you fit into His story. You will learn of His love, hear His voice, and see how great His desire is for you.

Baptism is an vital step in the Christian’s faith. It illustrates Christ’s death and resurrection and our new lives as Christians. Baptism is an outward display of an inner change. Deciding to be baptized is important because it means you’re choosing to follow the example of Christ (Mark 1:9) and listen to what Christ taught (Matthew 28:19-20).

LCF 101 is a class designed to help you learn all about our church. The class covers what we believe and why we believe it. It is a class that shows all of the opportunities we offer to get involved and how you can grow as a Christ follower. If you are new to LCF and want to learn more about the church, this is the best way to get that information.

At LCF, we have plenty of opportunities for you to serve our body. Some of those opportunities are on Sunday mornings, and some of them are during the middle of the week. We desire to see you serving at LCF for several reasons. First, serving helps you discover and develop your spiritual gifts (1 Corinthians 12:7). Also, serving is a form of worship, and worship births joy and peace in our souls. Most importantly, serving helps us be more like Jesus. Jesus’ life was poured out for others, and serving is a way that we can shift our focus from ourselves to others.

LCF has many opportunities to serve our local community throughout the year. Our Local Outreach team has events for you to serve our community, no matter what your gifting may be. Whether you’re interested in manual labor or event planning or building relationships with people, LCF can use your gifts to bring glory to Christ’s kingdom right here in Russell County. We believe that the lost in Russell County will know that we are Christ followers by the way we love (John 13:35), and it is our desire that you will get involved with serving our community.

Jesus made it very clear that we are to serve the world. It is our duty as Christ followers to take the Gospel to the ends of the earth (Acts 1:8), and LCF provides many opportunities for you to get involved with our Global Outreach program. We take the Great Commission very seriously, and our desire is that you join us on this mission.

We were not created to live this life alone. We need others in our lives that can be there to support us in times of need and celebrate with us in times of joy. At LCF, the way we accomplish this is through Community Groups. These are groups of 8-12 people that meet regularly in homes, usually sharing a meal together and growing in fellowship with Christ and one another. This is how Jesus spent his life with the 12 disciples. They loved and cared for one another, and we hope that you will get to experience this same type of fellowship on your Christian walk. LCF offers many Community Groups that you can be involved in and will help you grow as a Christian.

Prayer is an incredibly important aspect of the Christian’s life. When you pray, God hears! That is simply amazing! You can communicate with the Creator of the universe, and He listens. Prayer doesn’t have to be lofty words or complicated in any way. All you have to do is share with God what is on your heart. God knows you and loves you, and He desires for you to communicate with Him. It can be simple, and you can do it whenever and wherever you are, and you can trust that He hears and cares about you (1 Peter 5:7)

As Christ followers, there may be nothing more urgent or important than sharing Jesus with others, but we must be wise in how we do so. If we believe that Jesus came to earth, died on the cross, and rose from the grave to save people from their sin, then we must respond by telling others this Good News! There is nothing greater in this life than experiencing the love of Jesus, and Jesus never runs out of love. People everywhere need to know that Jesus loves them right where they are. There is no need to clean themselves up before falling at the feet of Christ. In love, it is our duty as people who follow Christ to tell the lost about Him. Sharing Jesus with others can be as simple as sharing with others how Jesus became your savior and letting them know that He can do the same for them.
